Foundations in Nature Based Therapy

Overview:

We know that being outdoors provides many health benefits which have a direct and profound impact on our mental health and wellbeing. Providing nature based therapies is one way mental health practitioners can enhance client outcomes and increase career sustainability. However, transitioning from a room-based approach to an outdoor setting requires consideration to multiple factors across risk and safety, clinical practice and ethical domains.

This training program is designed to equip mental health practitioners with the practical and clinical resources to get started in the outdoor therapy space. Delivered over 6 days, we commence with 1 full day of online learning focused on the practical and administrative tasks as well as the theoretical aspects of nature based practice. This is followed by a 4 day experiential learning program aimed at developing the clinical skills required to safely and effectively integrate nature into your therapeutic work. The final day is delivered live online with a focus on consolidating learning outcomes and application to your professional practice.

This thoughtfully crafted course encourages participants to build on their existing knowledge and experience, intentionally and meaningfully applying the principles of Ecotherapy to existing therapeutic modalities. We will explore current research that informs our understanding of the mechanisms of change in outdoor therapies equipping participants to apply this to their unique setting, interests and client populations.

Participants will be provided with a complete training package including training manual which also includes administrative templates provided as white label documents, fully customisable to reflect your practice.

This includes:

  • Service agreement
  • Consent form
  • Welcome letter
  • Suggested clinical assessments
  • Treatment evaulations
  • Session run sheets
  • Risk assessment and Safety Planning Matrix

Whether you’ are’re an early career therapist or a seasoned practitioner seeking a practical and relevant training, this course offers an engaging and dynamic learning experience that equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and support to confidently develop their nature-based therapy practice.

Places are strictly limited to ensure personalised support and guidance.
